How does a Pet Barrier Dog Fence work?

  • The Transformer and Transmitter
    FM1200 DogWatch Dog Fence Transmitter

Simply plug the transformer into a standard power outlet to activate the radio transmitter in the DogWatch System. Our pet fence includes a surge-protected transformer, ensuring the transmitter is shielded from power surges.  This transmitter generates a coded digital FM radio signal that travels through the boundary wire. With Pet Barrier Dog Fence, rest assured that your dog remains unaffected by stray radio signals, and the system remains interference-free from other nearby systems.

  • Lightning and Surge Protection (this is not common to all systems)

  • Dog Fence Lightning Surge Protection Green Earth Wire

The dog fence wire extends to an external Surge Protection box, with a green earthing wire connected to a ground stake. DogWatch provides a unique surge protection warranty, safeguarding against energy strikes or fusion to the transmitter. This exclusive lightning protection and warranty set DogWatch apart, as other brands don't offer this level of security. In the event of lightning storms, potential energy running back through the boundary wire or main power won't harm the transmitter, thanks to the external surge protector covered by the warranty (assuming the earth wire is connected.

    • The Boundary Wire
      Dog Fence Wire

The boundary wire or the HDPe dog fence wire travels to the boundary or protected area. The wire must return to the transmitter and form a closed circuit or loop. Smaller areas may only need a small transmitter. The Dogwatch System has a very stable signal that will allow the protection of intricate garden bed designs and thin radio signals. Circling the property is usually the easiest and safest solution for your dog. Our customer service team can discuss an on-site installation or provide a map designed for your property.

    • The Radio Signal

The Pet Barrier dog fence magic starts as the radio signal circles out from the wire in a safe, harmless way. You're in control – adjust the signal depth at the transmitter. The signal is gentle; the wire is touch-safe. It's got two parts: a friendly warning zone (about 20%) and the correction zone.

Our dog fence kits uses Safelink coded digital FM Radio Signal and a clever block correction method, ensuring the collar reacts as soon as it senses the signal. With proper training, the chance of a runaway pup is super low. Plus, the receiver collar has 'Fast React,' deterring any boundary-testing within 1/8th of a second – talk about quick paws.

    • The Receiver Collar
    Dog Fence Reciever Collar

The receiver, a small box on the collar with two skin-friendly probes, springs into action when it senses the radio signal. In the friendly warning zone, it chimes with an audible tone. DogWatch has your back with 'Anti Linger' – if your dog hangs around in the warning zone for 20 seconds, a static stimulation gently nudges them. When it ventures into the correction zone, the receiver gives a mild static stimulation. DogWatch even lets you customize the receiver's levels to match your dog's training needs.

    • Laying the Wire

Easily attach the wire to a fence or bury it underground for seamless driveway crossings. Need guidance? Our customer service team has your back, providing expert advice tailored to your property. Opt for durability with a sturdy, 1mm diameter wire coated in UV-stable HDPE, built to resist moisture and ensure a lasting and secure boundary.

    Are Electronic Fences same?

Not all Electronic Dog Fence Kits are created equal. Here's a breakdown of different types, and why our Pet Barrier Dog Fences stand out: we operate with a unique Coded Digital FM Radio Signal, using SafeLink technology. This patented system minimizes false activations from stray signals, providing maximum protection.

Our FM SafeLink tech beats the interference issues common with AM systems from other brands. Unlike AM signals causing confusion and inconsistent containment, our system ensures a reliable and effective boundary for your dog.

At The Dog Line, we're not just about great deals; we prioritize top-quality products to keep your furry friend safely contained.

Wondering about the difference between a Hidden Fence and an Electric Fence?

Unlike an electric fence that runs a current along a metallic string next to a fence, our Hidden Fence emits a coded digital FM Radio signal with SafeLink®. It's safe for other animals or children to touch, and stimulation only occurs when the receiver collar is within the radio signal.

Is an Electronic Dog Fence right for your dog?

The Pet Barrier Electronic Dog Fence sets itself apart as the sole dog containment system in Australia using an FM Digital Radio Signal.

Powered by the exclusive SafeLink® FM system, this patented technology ensures maximum protection, shielding your dog from accidental corrections triggered by stray radio signals.

Unlike other dog containment systems relying on AM radio frequencies susceptible to picking up stray signals, Pet Barrier's Electronic Dog Fence with SafeLink® stands resilient. It avoids unintended corrections when your dog is far from the hidden boundary, preventing confusion caused by inappropriate corrections. Trust in Pet Barrier's Electronic Dog Fence for a safe and effective containment system that ignores all AM radio signals.

How does my dog learn where the boundary is?

Teaching your dog boundaries becomes a breeze with our method. Visual flags, gentle audible tones, and low-level static stimulations form the trio that guides your furry friend. Positive reinforcement helps your dog recognize and understand the boundary locations. Consistency and repetition are key as your dog learns the designated play areas. Over time, training ensures your dog remembers the significance of flags, with a gradual reduction during the training period. They become adept at responding to audible tones and correction stimulations

Is it safe for my dog during a lightning storm?

Yes, because the transmitter is protected using both internal and external surge protection unique to and the receiver collar will only activate when it detects the SafeLink Coded digital FM radio signal emitted from the boundary wire.

Your dog is safe and your transmitter is protected.

The transmitter is also covered by the surge protection warranty if installed correctly. There’s no other system offers this warranty.

The DogWatch System features an internal and external electrical surge protection system. The internal surge protection unit will protect your investment from a surge through the main power supply. The external surge protection box will also protect the transmitter against damage from lightning strikes in your area that may occur during an electrical storm.

Is there a guarantee on the DogWatch Hidden Fence system?

Absolutely, with DogWatch, your dog's safety and your transmitter's well-being are top priorities.

Our exclusive internal and external surge protection keeps your transmitter secure. The receiver collar only activates in the presence of the SafeLink Coded digital FM radio signal from the boundary wire, ensuring your dog stays safe.

Not only that, but our surge protection warranty covers the transmitter when installed correctly—a unique benefit you won't find elsewhere. The DogWatch System goes the extra mile with both internal and external electrical surge protection. The internal unit shields your investment from power supply surges, while the external surge protection box safeguards the transmitter against potential damage from lightning strikes during electrical storms in your area.

    Is there a guarantee?

Yes. DogWatch offers a manufacturer’s warranty for the lifetime of the product on the transmitter and the receiver. The receiver is also the only receiver that is covered by a chew warranty. Safeguarding Your Dog in the Neighbourhood

The Pet Barrier, a hidden dog fence system, establishes a protective radio signal around your property, curbing your dog's attempts to escape or leap over the fence.

With this peace of mind, your neighbour's sheep and chickens can freely forage without the worry of unexpected visits from the curious dogs.

Since every dog and property is unique, consulting with our dog fence specialist is key to finding the most fitting hidden fence system for you and your furry companion. Our dedicated team is here to address all your questions and guide you through the process.

So what should you look for in a Pet Barrier?

The Radio Signal - While all radio signals can face interference, opting for an FM radio frequency minimizes the likelihood of such disruptions and guarantees that neighboring radio frequencies won't trigger your dog's fence collar. If your neighbor also has a hidden dog fence, utilizing an FM radio frequency on your system enables both fences to coexist harmoniously.

Energy Fusion - Power surges can lead to the fusion and malfunction of the radio transmitter box through the main power source. Opting for a system with a third 'earth pin' on the power plug provides added protection for the transmitter.

Lightning Protection - Storms can bring lightning strikes that send energy back to the transmitter through the boundary wire. Implementing an external lightning protection system ensures the safeguarding of the radio transmitter box.

Warranties - Considering the points above, it's crucial to verify if the radio transmitter box is backed by a fusion warranty. Without it, you might find yourself footing the bill for a new radio transmitter box.

The Receiver - Another crucial element in these systems is the receiver collar worn by the dog. Examine how it responds to the radio signal. Consider factors such as the reaction time if the dog approaches the signal and whether it offers programmable levels for convenient training. Additionally, check if it comes with a warranty for replacement in case of chewing.

The Receiver Battery - Enjoy peace of mind with a replaceable 2-year battery life in the collar. The 'Anti Linger' feature prevents the battery from draining if the dog stays too long in the warning 'beeping' zone, ensuring a worry-free containment solution.

Running Through - Correctly training your dog is key to preventing escapes. Dogs, each with their unique personality, may escape for various reasons. A determined dog may require different approaches. Seeking expert advice on the system and tailored training is essential for success.

    Can my dog get over-corrected?

The Pet Barrier Dog Fence System prevents over-correction if your dog gets stuck in the signal area. If they stay inside, the collar stops correcting after 15 seconds to ensure their safety. The dog will also receive a gentle 'warning' correction every 15 seconds prompts them to leave the zone.

    What is a Receiver Collar?

The receiver is a small box attached to a collar. with 2 probes touching your dog's skin. It reacts in the radio signal, sounding an audible tone in the warning zone. DogWatch's special 'Anti Linger' feature gives a static stimulation if the dog stays in the warning zone for 20 seconds. Once in the correction zone, the receiver provides a static stimulation. The DogWatch's receiver collars have adjustable levels to suit the needs of your dog’s training requirements.

    • Boundary Flags

These are used as a visual reference to where the radio signal is located. Your dog is trained to stay away from these flags and to recognise that they form the edge of the restricted zone.

    • The Warning Zone

Your dog is taught to recognise the audible tone from the receiver collar and to stay away. DogWatch receivers offer an ‘Anti Linger’ feature. Your dog will be corrected if it remains in the warning zone for 20 seconds. This prevents the battery draining prematurely allowing the dog to run the battery down and escape. Not all systems offer this feature. Most DogWatch receivers offer a 2 year replaceable battery.

    • The Correction Zone

Immediately after the warning zone is the correction zone. The receiver will change tone in this area and also deliver the static stimulation to your dog. This stimulation is harmless. See DogWatch offer several different receivers with a number of adjustable levels. Our customer service team can advise on selecting the best one for your dog and its environment. Contact us for more information or simply on fill in the form and will be in touch with you.

Will the correction hurt my dog?

With the receiver's adjustable levels and effective training, your dog should seldom feel uncomfortable static stimulation. Check 'How does it feel?' for insights. The audible warning tone provides ample warning before any static stimulation if the dog proceeds further.

Will the system work on more than one dog?

Yes, it's multi-dog magic! DogWatch's versatile system supports multiple dogs with interchangeable transmitters and receivers. Mix and match for any number of dogs, either in a kit or individual collars.
